Blu-ray hook up problem with soundby Anonymous
My regular dvd stopped working, so we replaced it with a blu-ray player. I hooked up the cords and no sound. Can't figure it out. Does anybody have any ideas? Hi You've not provided much information here, so it's difficult to give you an opinion. For example, are you connecting straight into the TV or are you using an AV receiver? This would be useful to know. However, here's a couple of general points that may help. The best way to connect a Blu-ray player is by an HDMI connection. If you have one of these on your TV or AV receiver then the HDMI cable will transmit the picture and the sound. If you connect directly into your TV and see the picture, then you should also hear the sound. If you are connecting via a component cable, then this will only send the picture and you will need to make another connection for the sound. Depending on your devices, you may be able to use an optical audio connection or a basic stereo analog connection. On your TV, the component video input will usually be linked to a particular audio input, so make sure you use the right one. Some TVs allow you to change the audio input used for a particular video input, so match it to the one you are using. If you are using an AV receiver, then in the audio setup menu make sure you select the correct audio input you are using for the video input. You often need to tell it where the sound is coming in. Hope this helps a bit. All the best. Paul (Site Editor) Feel free to join in this discussion by adding your own comments below... |
