Can I use speakers from a surround sound system on a normal stereo? I have a pioneer surround system and I want to use the two small speakers with a normal stereo. Is there any reason that I would not be able to do this? Thanks guys

Hi

Generally speaking, there shouldn't be a problem with this.

You should be able to mix and match most speaker separates with any amp.

However, just be careful that the specifications of the speakers are suitable for the amp you are connecting them to. See if you can find the speaker specs and check the power rating and impedance of the speakers. You probably won't have a problem, but it is better to check if you can.

Some small speakers that come with HTiB systems sometimes have a low impedance - maybe 2 ohms. If so, then most standard hi-fi amps and receivers may have a problem driving these if you turn up the volume for a long period.

All the best.
