DVD player problem - black square appears with fast forward

When watching a dvd movie, when I try to skip forward past the parts of the movie I've already seen-- after about two skips or so, a black square box appears and obscures part of the screen. It will not go away until I eject the dvd and turn off the TV and start all over. But the same thing happens again.

Hmm, not sure why it may be doing that.

Things to try:

1. Change the cable you are connecting with. How are you connecting - HDMI?

2. See if the firmware for the player needs updating. Check your manual for this.

Some questions that come to mind:

1. Is this a new player, or has it been working ok and just starting doing it?

2. What make/model is it?

3. Does this happen only with fast forward - what about when using the 'skip' button to jump to the next chapter?

4. Does this appear when you just play from the start and don't use fast forward?
