HDMI Matrix Switcher Store

Welcome to our HDMI matrix switcher store.

If you are looking for one of the most versatile methods of routing your audio/video in your home theater system, then you may interested in a matrix switch.

What is an HDMI matrix?

A matrix will have multiple inputs and outputs. The idea with a matrix switcher is you can select which of your input sources is sent to a particular output.

This allows great flexibility if you need to have different sources in different rooms.

For example, a 4x2 matrix will have four inputs and two outputs. You can connect your cable TV, a Blu-ray player, a PS3 and a home theater PC into the inputs. Then you can connect each output to a large flat screen TV and a projector.

The device will then allow you to send any of the input sources to any of the outputs. You can have a Blu-ray movie on the flat screen and play the PS3 on the projector at the same time.

This type of device is similar to an HDMI switcher and a splitter, but allows more routing control.

Buyers Guide

Things to consider:

  • If you only need to send the same thing to a number of different screens, you may only need a splitter
  • For long cable runs (over 10m), you may need the device to boost the signal - shorter cable runs shouldn't need this
  • Maybe allow extra inputs and outputs for future expansion
  • Does it pass all the audio formats you need? e.g. Dolby Digital or HD audio
  • Make sure the matrix supports the HDMI version and resolution of your devices - 1080p, v1.3, v1.4, HDCP etc.
  • You will usually control the device via a remote control or by pushing buttons on the front panel - decide which is best for your situation (some provide both)
