Help connecting my system - Sky+HD and Freeview Problem

I have a little connection problem with my system. My TV is Samsung LE40a686 Full Hd LCD TV, I have a Sky+HD Box (Amstrad), a Samsung BDP-1500 Blu-Ray Player and a Pioneer VSX-1017-K A/V Receiver.

RF signal from TV and Sky is distributed via a distribution Amplifier.

The problem is that before SKY+Hd was installed I had a Sky Digibox that was connected to TV via Scart and Stereo Phono Cables and a pioneer analogue DVD/HDD Recorder (removed when SKY+HD was installed as the HD Box does everything better than the DVD/HDD recorder).

So when i was watching DTV the audio was the correct audio from the DTV and when i changed the source on the TV to EXT 1 (satellite Box) the Picture and the audio changed accordingly without having to do anything to the receiver.

Now the Sky Man has installed Sky+HD which connects direct to the Receiver by HDMI and digital Optical connections (and doesn't connect directly to the tv as previously via scart ) when i change the source on the TV to DTV the correct picture comes up but with audio from the sky+HD box.

I've assigned the HDMI on the receiver Menu as follows:

HDMI Out To TV (via HDMI Cable)
HDMI 1 is to my Blu-Ray (via HDMI Cable)
HDMI 2 to TV/SAT (via HDMI Cable)
OPT1 to Blu Ray (Digital Optical Cable)
OPT 2 to TV/SAT(Digital Optical Cable)

So how do I get audio that the TV receives from the aerial (Nicam Digital) to output through the receiver and to switch between Sky+HD and Digital TV when the TV & Sat is connected with the same inputs?

This is so when my daughters are watching Childrens TV on sky distributed to the playroom TV my wife and myself can watch normal digital tv in the lounge through the recever with the correct audio.

At the moment we watch everything through sky which is great until my daughters want to watch SKy Tv in the playroom.

Can you help?

Hi

I may have missed an important detail somewhere, but how about this?

1. Blu-ray into receiver HDMI 1. You shouldn't need the optical for this. HDMI will carry picture and sound.

2. Sky+HD into HDMI 2. You normally wouldn't need the optical for this either, but I think this box only sends 5.1 over optical - so you still need the optical connection for Dolby Digital surround sound.

3. HDMI Out (receiver) to HDMI in on rear of TV.

This is pretty much as you have it (minus the optical for the Blu-ray).

For the DTV, you need to send the freeview audio to the receiver. There is a 'Digital Audio Out' on the rear of the TV. This is an optical connection. Connect an optical cable from here to an optical input on the receiver. You could use the In 3 (CD) as this isn't being used.

So to watch freeview, switch the input source on the TV to 'DTV' and change the source on the receiver to 'CD'. You should then see the picture and hear the audio from the freeview (which is being sent to the receiver from the rear of your TV).

Does that work?

All the best.
