How long do AV components need to run in?

I have a question, how long does it take for new AV components - such as speakers, AV amplifier and Blueray player - to run in? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi

Most of the equipment you highlighted doesn't really require any time to run in.

It is generally only equipment that has components that move that may improve over time.

So, for example, speakers will generally get better over the first few weeks of use as the voice coils/drivers loosen up. For things like AV receivers and Blu-ray players, they will work perfectly from day one.

Another item which is often suggested to run-in is a plasma TV. You can be in danger of screen burn if you leave static images on-screen during the first few hours of use - so many people recommend being careful in the first hundred hours or so.

All the best.
