How to connect my blu ray player to a 5.1 surround system?

I already own a blu ray player and have been looking at 5.1 surround systems. The ones i've been looking at, for cost purposes, come with a dvd player. How will i connect my blu ray to the system to get the surround sound?

Is it possible, or will i have to buy a blu ray surround sound set up or dedicated system?

Hi,

When looking at all in one systems the first thing to check out if you don't want to use the supplied receiver/player is: the speaker connections if they are not a universal type!

Example: sony have their own special connector system and so do others like bose. If they are push clip connections or rca plug type then you can use these.

Just remember when using these with a large receiver that these speakers are generally quite low wattage so may blow them at high volume levels on the bigger amp.

It may be better to look at eltax or jamo budget range ( if budget is an issue ) as these will have a better power handling and a better sound quality.
