Looking for high efficiency speakers of smaller dimensions

I know that high efficiency in small package is difficult. Currently have older Klipsch speakers and a pair of newer smaller klipsch. Not happy with the newer, need a lot of power!

My other half likes the Bose Acoustimass system. She likes small and unobtrusive.

Other opinions are welcome.

Hi

You are right, it is difficult to get high efficiency with small speakers. However, you should be able to get a reasonable sound level as long as your amplifier isn't too under-powered. All these systems with small satellite speakers will need a good subwoofer to get a full sound with enough bass.

The Bose systems do get many admirers for their design, although you will also find many people being unimpressed with their sound.

The best way is always to demo some and see what you think for yourself.

However, the good news is there are many speaker manufacturers who make good quality speaker systems. Here are some I would take a look at (various prices):

KEF KHT1005.2 5.1-channel Home Theater Speaker System - sensitivity 86 dB

Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 Home Theater Speaker System - sensitivity 88/89 dB

Boston Acoustics SoundWareXS5.1B 5.1 Speaker System - sensitivity 85 dB

MK Sound 5.1 Channel Home Theater Black Speaker System - expensive but high quality

Canton Movie 150 QX Home Theater - I used to have some like this, they sound pretty good.

As always, check some reviews and try to demo some if at all possible.

All the best.
