New Philips HD TV won't connect to my Yamaha htr 5730 receiver

Just purchased a Phillips 55" hdtv, I plugged the analog rca cables from the audio output jacks on the back of the set to the tv audio in on the receiver and it doesn't work. The receiver accepted the signal from the old hdtv set. Any ideas why I'm not getting an output signal from the new tv?

It would be easier to figure out the problem if you gave the model of the TV you have. I could then have a look at the specifications in the manual.

However, I would guess the most likely cause is you are trying to use stereo analog inputs, rather than outputs.

A modern TV is more likely to have a single RCA digital audio output (or optical audio output). If you have one of these, you should be able to connect this to your Yamaha AV receiver.

As I say, without the exact model number of the TV it is hard to say for sure. However, I would double-check you are trying to use the right connections first.
