Pioneer 1020K and HK 11BQ speakers
by Josh
I am planning to get a pioneer 1020K receiver and harmon kardon 11BQ speakers. I also have a DVD player and an Imation Media link HDMI box to play .avi files etc. I was wondering if the 1020k can take in HDMI audio and video, process it in the AV receiver and send the sound to the speakers and video to the TV. Hi Yes, you can certainly do what you want with the Pioneer VSX-1020. In fact that is exactly how they are designed to work! You will usually get more control over your system (and simpler wiring) if you connect all your external devices into the receiver, and then use the AV receiver to switch between sources. I would only use ARC if using an internal tuner on the TV. You then only need one connection to your TV for the picture (the Pioneer will handle the audio to the speakers). Something like this: ![]() The Pioneer has 6 HDMI inputs, and this is usually the best way to connect your devices, assuming all your hardware supports HDMI. If not, there are plenty of other connections into the receiver that you should be able to use instead. Hope that helps.
