What is the difference between lcd and led tvs?
by Sarah
I'm confused about lcd and led tv's. I'm looking to buy a new tv soon but I'm not sure if I should buy an lcd or an led. Are they the same thing or is there a difference that I should be aware of? Sarah The main difference between LCD and LED TVs is the type of backlight they use. Traditional LCD TVs use CCFL (fluorescent) lamps, while LED TVs use.....well, LEDs! However, they both use an LCD screen so you could think of them as part of the same family. However, there are other differences between the two which can have an impact on the type you buy. Other things to consider are picture quality, style and design of the TV, the price difference between the two and the power consumption of each type. Have a look at our guides to LCD and LED TVs for more details on this. You can find links to these below. All the best.
