What is the difference between lcd and led tvs?

I'm confused about lcd and led tv's. I'm looking to buy a new tv soon but I'm not sure if I should buy an lcd or an led. Are they the same thing or is there a difference that I should be aware of? What is the difference between the two?

Difference between LED and LCD TV

The main difference between LCD and LED TVs is the type of backlight they use.

Traditional LCD TVs use CCFL (fluorescent) lamps, while LED TVs use.....well, LEDs!

Have a look at our guides to LCD and LED TVs for more details on this.
