Which impedance for my receiver - 6 or 8 ohms?

I have a very different type of question in my mind. I use RX-V667 av receiver with different speakers. For example, I've Mission Center speakers which has 8ohms impedance and other small satellites are of 6 ohms impedance. My amp has only two options either 6 ohms or 8 ohms.

So on which impedance should i set my amplifier?

Please guide properly. Moreover I read the chapter on matching speaker impedance with amplifier, but, that did not help really.

Speaker Impedence
by: John Anderson

I have the RX-Z11. My manual states "6 Ohm MINIMUM: Select this setting to set the speaker impedance to 6 Ohm. The impedance of each speaker must be 6 Ohm or HIGHER."

I have two "Altec Lansing", 6 Ohm. speakers containing 8 speakers each. These are my rear Left & Right Surround. I have my switch set on 6 Ohm, and have played my system to reasonable high levels, with no problems. Most of my speakers are 140 Watts (the Front Presence are 50W).

The volume control is usually adequate at a 9:00 setting; however, I have pushed it to 12:00, with no problems. Do not overdrive your speakers, on a lower powered unit, so as to create distortion. This could conceivably cause damage to your speakers.

Hope this helps!
