Why do i have to put my tv volume up high when using my dvd?
When we put a dvd on to watch, we have to crank the volume up over half to hear it properly! To watch free to air or play game consoles it is normally on 15. But we have to put it on 60 to hear the dvd! Hi It's not particularly unusual to have different output volumes from different devices. You may just have to accept that this is how it is and turn it up when you are playing a DVD. However, there may be some audio options in the menu which could help. Many DVD players have an option to compress the audio, or limit the dynamic range of the sound. This feature comes under many different names depending on the model of player. If you enable this, then the compression will make the audio appear louder, and you won't get such a difference in level between the loud and quiet bits. This may help. I'm not sure how you are hearing the sound - through your TV speakers or with a sound system - but if you are using stereo speakers, make sure you have the player set to downmix multichannel audio to stereo. Or make sure you are using the stereo soundtrack on the disc. With stereo speakers, it won't sound right unless you are sending it stereo audio to start with. You could also try connecting with a different type of cable - if your hardware setup allows this. A digital optical or HDMI audio connection may be louder than an analog one. All the best.
