I have recently bought a Bose Lifestyle V30 home cinema. I would like to know if i buy a blu ray player with dolby true hd/ dts hd master audio,etc..written on it..would i actually get this type of sound?? Or is there any other means i could get the hd sound??

Can someone help please???

In many cases, the fact that you haven't got a receiver that decodes HD audio may not be a problem.

Many Blu-ray players will have on-board decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. They will then decode the HD audio on the disc, and then send this over HDMI to your receiver as multi-channel PCM audio.

However, I have read that the Bose Lifestyle v30 will only support stereo audio using this method. I can't confirm this, so maybe you can check.

If not, then one thing you can try is buy a Samsung Blu-ray player which does re-encoding. These players can re-encode an HD audio soundtrack and send it over optical at the maximum bit rate for this type of connection.

For example, the Samsung BD-C5500 and Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-ray disc player do this.

I think there are others brands that do this - from memory I think Oppo and LG (may be wrong on this).

It isn't quite as good as 'proper' HD audio, but still sounds pretty good.

Follow the links below for more detailed information on these issues.

All the best.
